For connoisseurs of the liquor, the oaky richness of whisky can be experienced in this unique combination of whole spices and apples - for a fruity undertone infused with spice aroma.

What you’ll need

Ingredients

Serves:
1
  • Vat 69 or any other scotch of choice
    60ml
  • Star Anise
    2
  • Apple juice
    45ml
  • Homemade Bitters
    Dashes
  • Ice Cubes

Method

  1. Step 1

Fill up a rocks glass with ice.

  2. Step 2

Using a cocktail jigger, measure the scotch and apple juice before pouring both into the glass.

  3. Step 3

Add two dashes of homemade bitters and the anise before mixing to combine.

  4. Step 4

Garnish with a cherry (optional) and serve.

Tips & Suggestions

  • Opt for a barrel-aged whisky or bourbon since the flavour of the cocktail depends on oak and caramelised notes which can be acquired only from a properly aged dark spirit.

  • Few drops of barrel-aged bitters work well as they can add depth to the cocktail.
