Mai Tai Cocktail
What you’ll need
Ingredients
- White rum30ml
- Orange curaçao15ml
- Orgeat syrup10ml
- Fresh lime juice10ml
- Crushed ice
- Mint sprig (garnish)
- Lime wheel (garnish)
Equipment
- 1 x Pahar Tiki
- 1 x Gheață
- 1 x Jigger
- 1 x Shaker de cocktail
- 1 x Strecurătoare pentru bar
Method
Step 1
To quickly chill and dilute, combine white rum, orange curaçao, orgeat syrup, and lime juice in an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
Step 2
To integrate flavours and chill the cocktail, shake it briskly for around 10 seconds.
Step 3
To preserve texture and coolness, strain the shaken mixture into a rocks glass filled with freshly broken ice.
Step 4
Garnish with a mint leaf and lime wheel to give aroma and visual appeal to the final presentation.
Tips & Suggestions
Use both dark and light rum to achieve depth—an aged rum works well for body, while a lighter rum provides balance.
Garnish with a lime shell that has been discarded and a fresh mint sprig to replicate the classic "island" look and release aromatic oils close to the nose of the drinker.
