A classic cocktail that is replete with the smooth richness of scotch whisky, the sidecar is a cocktail that celebrates varying levels of sour and bitter notes. The buildable cocktail that is also visually appealing, uses a variety of citrus elements in various forms- thus complementing the oak-like notes of the blended scotch whisky.

  • Johnnie Walker Black Label Blended Scotch Whisky (or any scotch whisky of choice)
    25ml
  • Orange liqueur
    15ml
  • Sour mix
    25ml
  • Fresh lime juice
    25ml
  • Lemon slice
    1
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Step 1

    Pour all the ingredients in sequence, into a highball glass filled with ice.

  2. Step 2

    Stir gently with a bar spoon to combine well.

  3. Step 3

    Garnish with a slice of lemon and serve.

Tips & Suggestions

  • To achieve a smooth texture, double-strain the cocktail using a Hawthorne strainer followed by a fine mesh sieve to remove the tiny ice particles.

  • Adding grapefruit juice imparts a bitter-tart edge to the cocktail.
