A cocktail garnished with an apple fan and a green cherry sits on a coaster next to a lit decorative candle on a dark wooden table.

Crafting this modern cocktail recipe includes a combination of quality ingredients and an effective technique. The fruity-floral profiles of the drink accentuate the botanical spirit and offer delicious sips that are vibrant and sweet.

What you’ll need

Ingredients

Serves:
1
  • Elderflower liqueur
    30ml
  • Cloudy apple juice
    60ml
  • Chilled sparkling water
    90ml
  • Ice cubes
  • Thin apple slice or mint sprig (optional garnish)

Method

  1. Step 1

Fill a wine glass with a few ice cubes to chill the drink and maintain it cold.

  2. Step 2

Pour elderflower liqueur and apple juice directly over the ice without shaking or mixing.

  3. Step 3

Gently top with chilled sparkling water, which allows bubbles to carry the flavours upwards through the drink.

  4. Step 4

Add a thin apple slice or mint sprig on top for scent and presentation; serve immediately without stirring.

Tips & Suggestions

  • Use cold ingredients, not just ice. Chill the apple juice, elderflower liqueur, and sparkling element ahead of time to minimise dilution and maintain carbonation.

  • When using tonic instead of soda or sparkling wine, decrease the elderflower liqueur a bit to avoid the drink becoming too bitter.
