A Casamigos smoky mezcal margarita next to a bottle of Casamigos Mezcal.

A Smoky Mezcal Margarita is what happens when the classic Margarita heads off the beaten path and comes back with a deeper, richer flavour story. Instead of tequila, this recipe uses Casamigos Mezcal Joven, which is crafted using traditional roasting methods that give mezcal its signature smoky, earthy character with layered notes of roasted agave, light pepper and subtle sweetness. That smoke adds a savoury edge that sets it apart from a standard margarita, which is typically brighter and cleaner in profile. Paired with fresh lime juice, agave nectar and aromatic orange bitters, this smoky margarita keeps the familiar citrus balance you expect while delivering extra depth and complexity, making it a great choice for anyone looking to explore beyond the classic tequila version.
