Ingredients
Method

Adaptable yet lesser-known, the Jimmy Conway cocktail is named after a fictional character portrayed in film. Structured, minimal and composed in presentation, the cocktail mirrors the character’s understated presence and elegance. Known for its simplicity, it uses three ingredients to create a balanced, medium-bodied drink suited for a wide range of occasions. Rather than relying on complexity, it focuses on clarity and control; its shaken composition pairing well with light appetisers, which complement its profile.

What you’ll need

Ingredients

Serves:
1
  • Irish whisky
    15ml
  • Sweet Italian Liqueur
    15ml
  • Cranberry juice
    36ml
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Step 1

Pour the Irish whisky, Italian liqueur and cranberry juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  2. Step 2

Shake thoroughly until the surface feels cold to touch.

  3. Step 3

Strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass filled with fresh ice and serve.

Tips & Suggestions

  • Cranberry juice should be freshly made or cold-pressed to prevent excessive sweetness or synthetic flavour notes.

  • If using orange peel as a garnish, hold the skin down to the surface and twist it over the glass to spray aromatic oils across the drink.
