An Old Fashioned whisky cocktail sits on a kitchen counter

Perhaps the easiest and most classic whiskey cocktail on the scene, the Old Fashioned shows how just three ingredients can create something beautifully timeless. Bourbon, bitters and sugar syrup are combined in a rocks glass over ice to serve up something simple yet special.

What you’ll need

Ingredients

  • Bourbon
    50ml
  • Sugar syrup
    10ml
  • Dashes of Angostura bitters
    2
  • Orange peel
    1
  • Ice

2.4 units of alcohol per serving

Equipment

  • Rocks glass
  • Jigger
  • Stirrer
  • Knife
  • Chopping board

Method

Step 1

Using a jigger, combine all ingredients to the rocks glass. Add ice.

Step 2

Stir gently.

Step 3

Using the knife, cut a slice of orange peel.

Step 4

Zest the orange peel over the glass and then add the peel to the drink for garnish.
