The Hot Toddy is one of whisky’s most popular cocktails - simple, tasty and full of warmth. Combining Scotch whisky with honey, lemon and hot water, it’s a drink long associated with slow evenings and colder nights. This version with Haig Club keeps things smooth, balancing gentle sweetness with bright citrus and soft whisky character for a simple twist on a timeless classic.

What you’ll need

  • Haig Club Clubman
    25millilitre
  • Cloudy apple juice
    125millilitre
  • Honey
    1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon stick
    1
  • Grated ginger
    1 teaspoon
  • Lemon
    1
  • Ground nutmeg
    A sprinkle!

2 units of alcohol per serving

Equipment

  • Pan
  • Strainer
  • Latte Mug
  • Jigger
  • Peeler
  • Wooden Spoon

Method

Step 1

Add everything except the Haig Club to a pan and bring to a simmer.

Step 2

Reduce the temperature but continue warming for 10-15 minutes allowing the flavors to combine.

Step 3

Add Haig Club, stir and then strain the mixture into a glass latte mug and garnish with the lemon peel.
