Vodka Rickey Cocktail Recipe

Vodka Rickey cocktail in a bar

Unlike the Gin Rickey, the inventor of the vodka version is unknown, but this mixture of cool, triple-distilled vodka with a balancing lime juice and sugar syrup, then topped with soda is a classic sweet-sour mix that has stood the test of time.

What you’ll need

Ingredients

Serves:

2 units of alcohol per serving

Equipment

  • 1 x Tall glass
  • 1 x Jigger
  • 1 x Knife
  • 1 x Chopping Board
  • 1 x Ice

Method

Ice

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

Pour

Using a jigger, pour 50ml vodka, 17.5ml lime juice and 10ml sugar syrup into a the shaker.

Mix

Shake the mixture vigorously until the surface of the cocktail shaker feels chilled.Strain the drink with a cocktail strainer into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice. Pour in 90ml soda water to top up.

Garnish

With a chopping board and sharp knife, cut a twist of lime peel and place over the edge of the glass to garnish.
