Variations to customize your Danny Ocean cocktail

If you’re missing ingredients or want to get creative, try out these variations.

Four bottles of Casamigos tequila and three cocktails with garnishes are arranged on a woven tray atop a colorful rug, with tags reading THE BAR attached to the bottles and tray.

Make it bubbly

Are you all about the bubbles? Though fresh pink grapefruit juice will provide the freshest fruity flavor, you can use grapefruit soda instead. Many paloma recipes call for soda water or grapefruit soda to provide that bubbly experience.

If you’re missing the agave nectar

Agave nectar is in this recipe to add sweetness. If you don’t have agave nectar, you can also use simple syrup. You can make your own simple syrup with one-part water and one-part granulated sugar. Stir the sugar into the water in a saucepan over medium heat and allow to cool completely before using for your drinks.

Switch up the spirits

Though this cocktail recipe is built on the foundation of Casamigos Reposado tequila, in a pinch, you can use other premium Casamigos tequilas.

For a smokier flavor, try Casamigos Mezcal. All tequila is mezcal, but not all mezcal is tequila. This agave-based spirit crafted by Casamigos has a smoky flavor from agave cooked in earthen pits lined with volcanic or river rock. Replace reposado with mezcal in this recipe to experience a new flavor profile. You can even add to the deeper, spicier flavor with a chile piquin rim.

You can also use blanco tequila. Blanco tequila is distilled and bottled without aging for a sweet, fruity flavor and tends to have the strongest agave taste compared to other types of tequila. Though reposado is our spirit of choice for this recipe, Casamigos Blanco is a quality tequila that lends well to any tequila cocktail.
