Spicy Margarita Cocktail Recipe

This Spicy Margarita delivers bold, balanced flavour with bright fresh lime juice, crisp blanco tequila and smooth orange liqueur. There's zesty citrus and clean agave notes here, accompanied by a gentle sweetness that offsets the heat of fresh chilli. A classic salt-rimmed glass enhances the contrast between sweet, sour and savoury flavours, while the chilli provides a warming, lingering spice. Refreshing yet fiery, this Spicy Margarita cocktail offers a vibrant twist on the classic Margarita with a clean finish and a satisfying kick.

  • Blanco tequila
    Don Julio Blanco Tequila, 70cl
    50ml
  • Triple sec
    25ml
  • Lime juice
    20ml
  • Lime wedges
    2
  • Jalapeño slices
    We recommend one, but add more if you're feeling spicy!

  • Tajin for rim
  • Ice

Equipment

  • Rocks glass
  • Jigger
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Strainer

Method

Step 1

Cut two lime wedges and use one to rub along the rim of the glass. Roll the rim in Tajin (either half or all of the rim).

Step 2

Add a jalapeno slice to the cocktail shaker and press down with the muddler to release the flavours. Then add ice to the shaker.

Step 3

Add the tequila, triple sec and lime juice into the shaker. Shake the mixture until the surface of the shaker feels chilled.

Step 4

Use the cocktail strainer to strain the mixture into the rocks glass, being careful not to get any Tajin into the drink. Place the remaining lime wedge onto the top of the drink to garnish. And enjoy!
