Product review policy

We value your feedback on our products.

We are committed to ensuring our product reviews and product review information we publish from them, for example aggregate star ratings, are as helpful and trustworthy as can be. It’s therefore important that you understand and abide by this policy if you would like to leave a product review.

This policy gives you an overview of how we approach product reviews and sets out the rules you need to abide by when leaving a product review.

Our reviews

We do not allow fake reviews / review information or concealed incentivised reviews on our website. It is very important that you follow the “Product Review Rules” (set out below) when leaving a product review.

In your review, you are able to give the product a star rating from one to five, describe your experience, and include a picture.

Reviews are displayed in order of relevance. What is most relevant depends on a number of factors including how recent the review is, whether the review is from a verified buyer, the length and how detailed the review is, and whether the review contains any media such as photos or videos. Users can also choose to sort and/or filter reviews by the most recent, verified purchase, highest rating, lowest rating and with media.

If you come across a product review that does not comply with this Product Review Policy, please report this to us. You can do this by using the “Contact us” section on the website.

Please be aware that product reviews are intended for publication to help other customers learn more about product experience. Product reviews are not intended as a means of contacting us. If you would like to contact us with a query or complaint, you can also do so by using the “Contact us” section on the website.

How to leave a review

If you have purchased a product from TheBar.com, you will be sent a post-purchase email with a link that allows you to leave a product review.

You will need to provide your name, email address and rate the product out of five, also adding a short review and title. If you wish, you can upload a picture of the product but this is not mandatory or required.

You may also be offered the opportunity to leave an incentivised review (please see below for more information).

Incentivised reviews

On occasion, some users may be invited to participate in an incentivised review program. This means a user will receive a benefit by leaving a review – for example, they may be given a free product, entry into a prize draw, loyalty points, vouchers, discount codes or other incentives to leave a review.

You will also be asked if you received a free sample of the product or if it was otherwise incentivised. This field is mandatory and should only be ticked if you have participated in an incentivised sampling programme.

Product reviews are most valuable when they are honest and unbiased. Therefore, it is particularly important that anyone who has been incentivised to leave a review discloses this by confirming they have received a benefit by leaving a review. Every incentivised review is marked as such on our website.

If you don’t abide by this Product Review Policy

If you don’t abide by this Product Review Policy, we reserve the right to remove any product reviews that do not comply with this policy. If we suspect you have left a product review that does not comply with this policy, we may restrict your ability to post product reviews in the future.

Product Review Rules

Your review should:

  • Include what you liked or disliked about your product and your own experience using it
  • Only express opinions that you genuinely hold
  • Be accurate with your review
  • Be about the product the review will be listed against
  • Always be marked as “incentivised” if you have been incentivised to leave a review (for example, you received any kind of incentive to leave a review such as being given the product for free, receiving a discount in return for leaving a review or you have some kind of financial connection with us)
  • Comply with our Conditions of Use (available here) and, Community Guidelines (available here)
  • Always comply with the law

Your review should not:

  • Include false, deceptive or misleading information
  • Conceal if a product review has been incentivised
  • Be published if you haven’t used the product you are reviewing isn’t based on your own experience
  • Use inappropriate language, be offensive, hateful or inflammatory
  • Be posted multiple times
  • Include people’s full names, personal information or contact information in your review
  • Suggest your review is the opinion of another person or company if you are not authorised to represent them
  • Stray off topic – your review should be about a product you have reviewed
  • Link to URLs
  • Include any illegal content in your review
