Cinco de Mayo cocktails

From being a master of Margaritas to having a penchant for a Paloma, Cinco de Mayo is the ultimate celebration for tequila lovers everywhere. Cinco de Mayo, for those who need a little refresher, is the annual celebration of Mexico's victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. As the name translates to, it takes place on the 5th of May every year, and much like St. Patrick’s Day transcending its Irish roots, people from all corners of the globe partake in the celebrations. Let us elevate your Cinco de Mayo drinks with some of our expert-recommended tequila recipes, plus offering up some non-tequila alternatives which still capture that South of the Border spirit.
Margarita recipes for Cinco de Mayo
Baileys at Christmas. Guinness for St. Patrick’s Day. A Margarita for Cinco de Mayo. Some things just make sense. The tequila cocktail is a popular choice, and there are a number of ways to serve up the spicy, salty sip.
A classic Margarita
It’s been served this way for decades, so why reinvent the wheel? Here’s our tips for the ultimate traditional Margarita.

50ml (1.75oz) blanco tequila (we love the crispness of Casamigos)
25ml (0.75oz) triple sec
20ml (0.6oz) lime juice
Two lime wedges
Salt
Ice
To make:
First, prepare your coupe glass by rubbing a lime wedge across the rim and rolling it in salt
Next, add ice to a shaker and pour in your tequila, triple sec and lime juice
Shake until cold
Strain into your prepared coupe glass
Garnish with the remaining lime wedge

Two lime wedges
Ice
Salt
To make:
First, prepare either a rocks or coupe glass by rubbing a lime wedge across the rim and rolling it in salt
Muddle slices of jalapenos in the bottom of a cocktail shaker – depending on how spicy you like it, increase the number of peppers, but many mixologists recommend between two and four
After muddling, measure your remaining ingredients and add them to the shaker, along with ice
Shake until cold
Strain into your glass
Garnish with a lime wedge
