Movie Cocktails To Celebrate The Oscar Awards 2025

With the awards season taking place in full swing—the Oscars are to be held on March 2—watching celebrities in their fine jewellery and fashion from the comfort of one’s home can be a rewarding experience. Hosting a group of friends to enjoy the cinematic experiences being acknowledged for their brilliance – accompanied by an assortment of food and drinks can be a great way to elevate an evening, without the hassle of missing out on some of entertainment’s iconic moments. Crafting simple but delicious drinks that only need a handful of ingredients not only makes guests feel special but also adds to a special evening in its own unique manner.  

Capture the pink and green theme of the ‘enchantment’ that is The Pink Lady with every sip while also concocting a thematic beverage to serve alongside light bites and salads.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml good quality gin, like London Dry 

5 ml triple sec 

5 ml lemon juice 

Lemon peel, for garnish 

5 ml grenadine  

Method  

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes before adding in all ingredients except the garnish. 

Shake the mixture vigorously until the surface of the cocktail shaker feels chilled and strain into a serving glass. 

Garnish with a lemon peel twist.  

Crisp and effervescent – the Cucumber-Gin Fizz boasts of light flavours which enhance the botanical characteristics of the spirit.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml premium gin, like Tanqueray No 10 

10 ml vermouth bianco 

10 ml lemon juice 

10 ml simple syrup 

15 ml sparkling water 

3-5 cucumber slices 

Ice cubes  

Method   

Muddle the cucumber slices in a mixing glass or shaker before adding in the gin, vermouth, simple syrup and lemon juice. 

Shake well for about 15 seconds and strain into a serving glass filled with ice. 

Top up with sparkling water and serve immediately.

Combine the love for cinema and cocktail making by shaking up a 007-inspired Vesper Martini cocktail – crisp with flavours from the gin and vermouth and finished with an aromatic citrus peel.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml premium vodka, like Ciroc  

20 ml good quality gin, like London Dry 

10ml dry vermouth 

Ice cubes 

Lemon peel, for garnish  

Method  

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes before adding in the ingredients. 

Shake the mixture vigorously until the surface of the cocktail shaker feels cool to touch before using a strainer and pouring into a martini cocktail glass. 

Twist the lemon peel over the rim of the glass for garnish.

A glamorous cocktail – often featured in timeless celluloid classics – the French 75 uses minimal ingredients to produce a mellow flavoured drink, best served alongside a charcuterie platter.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml gin 

15 ml sugar syrup 

15 ml lemon juice  

Champagne or sparkling wine, to top  

Method  

Fill a shaker with ice and add the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup. 

Shake until cold and strain into a champagne flute before topping up with champagne or sparkling wine. 

Twist a slice of lemon peel and add as garnish.  

An upgraded version of the scotch and soda, the Scotch Mist can be assembled at a moment’s notice using readily available bar staples.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml premium blended Scotch whisky, like Johnnie Walker Black Label 

5 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice 

5 ml simple syrup 

Soda water, for topping 

Lemon peel or twist, for garnish  

Method  

Fill a highball glass with ice cubes and add the whisky, lemon juice and simple syrup. 

Use a long bar spoon to combine the ingredients before topping up with soda water 

Garnish with a twist of lemon peel, gently activating the oils for an aromatic touch.

Popularised in a television show and most associated with being a feminine drink, the Cosmopolitan is a go-to drink to accompany an assortment of snacks while hosting a group.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml premium vodka, like Smirnoff  

10 ml orange liqueur 

15 ml lime juice 

35 ml cranberry Juice 

Sugar syrup, to taste 

Orange peel twist, to garnish.   

Method  

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. 

Shake well and strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with an orange peel twist before serving.  

A mix of gin, cherry brandy and Bénédictine liqueur – the Singapore Sling is a cocktail for connoisseurs of mixology.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml premium gin, like Tanqueray No 10 

10 ml orange liqueur 

10 ml cherry brandy 

10 ml Bénédictine liqueur 

30 ml lime juice 

10 ml grenadine syrup 

60 ml pineapple juice 

40 ml soda 

1 dash bitters 

One maraschino cherry and orange wedge, to garnish  

Method  

Combine the gin, orange liqueur, brandy, Bénédictine liqueur, lime and pineapple juice, grenadine and bitters in a shaker filled with ice. 

Strain into a serving glass, top up with soda and garnish before serving.

The White Russian is a classic dessert cocktail which is ideal to serve during the last leg of home hosting – as a way to end the night on a sweet note.  

Ingredients [Serves 1]  

30 ml good quality vodka, like Ketel One 

30 ml cold brew coffee liqueur 

50 ml double cream 

10 ml sugar syrup 

1 pinch grated nutmeg  

Method  

Dry shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker before shaking again with ice. 

Double strain into a rocks glass. 

Garnish with a pinch of grated nutmeg before serving.
