Two glasses of dark soda with ice cubes and lime wedges on a dark textured surface, with additional lime slices in the background.

Dark rum is simply rum that has been aged longer and has a rich flavour profile. It’s also full-bodied and versatile, which allows it to be the perfect spirit in a variety of cocktails. If you have rum fans coming over for a gathering, these dark rum-based batch cocktails will be a massive hit! Each recipe in this list serves eight.

Rum & Cola

This is a fabulous marriage of two delightful beverages that are so tasty just by themselves. For this recipe, you’ll need 240 ml of Captain Morgan Dark Rum, , 900 ml of cola, 60 ml of lime juice, 1 litre of club soda, and lime wheels for garnish. First, in a large pitcher combine the dark rum, cola, and lime juice. Then, just before serving add the club soda. Serve this in highball glasses with crushed ice and garnish with lime wheels.

Dark & Stormy

Two glasses of iced dark and light layered cocktails, garnished with lime wedges, sit on a dark textured surface with mint sprigs and lime slices nearby.

For this delicious cocktail, you’ll need 240 ml of Captain Morgan Dark Rum, 900 ml of ginger beer, 60 ml of fresh lime juice, and lime wheels of garnish. Pour the dark rum directly over the ginger beer in highball glasses topped with ice. Then garnish with lime wheels. It’s that simple, really! So, if you’re a no-fuss person or simply lazy (no judgment here) in the kitchen, this recipe is perfect for you.

Rum Passion Fruit Punch

If you love exotic fruits in cocktails,  this could soon become your preferred drink of choice. For this recipe, you’ll need 240 ml of Captain Morgan Dark Rum, 480 ml of passion fruit juice, 60 ml of fresh lime juice, 60 gms of honey, 2 litres of club soda, and passion fruit puree for garnish. In a large pitcher, mix the dark rum, passion fruit juice, lime juice, and honey until it is perfectly dissolved. Add the club soda and serve in highball glasses filled with ice before serving. Garnish with the passion fruit puree and enjoy this delicious delight.

Spiced Apple and Rum Cooler

A glass of orange cocktail with ice, garnished with a cinnamon stick and star anise, sits on a wicker coaster with cinnamon sticks in the background against an orange backdrop.

You’ll need 240 ml of Captain Morgan Dark Rum, 480 ml of apple cider, 60 ml of maple syrup, a thinly sliced apple, and cinnamon sticks. In a pitcher, combine the dark rum, apple cider, maple syrup and stir well. Serve in mugs or pints with ice and garnish with the apple slices and cinnamon sticks.

Rum and Pomegranate Fizz

For this recipe, you’ll need 240 ml of Captain Morgan Dark Rum, 480 ml of pomegranate juice, 60 ml of lime juice, 60 gms of honey, 2 litres of soda water, and pomegranate arils for garnish. In a large pitcher, combine the dark rum, pomegranate juice, lime juice, and honey until the honey perfectly dissolves.
