Baileys Makes Them Better: Try These Twists To Festive Sweets

The festival of colours is around the corner which means all of us would amp up our hosting game and our party planning skills to open up our gardens, lawns and terraces for a day full of fun and lots of excitement and festive revelry. While we lather each other in pink, blue, green, red and many other colours, we also go looking for decadent sweet treats and drinks that are the highlight of this festive season. And when you prepare these desserts at home, you can infuse them with the silky smooth textures of Baileys Original Irish Cream to add a more decadent quality to your sweets.

Read on below to know more about some Indian sweets you can prepare and infuse with Baileys during the festival of colours:

Baileys Thandai

A classic drink prepared to mark the spring season and the festivities it brings, thandai is famously prepared across most of northern India. You can add a touch of Baileys to thandai using the recipe below:

Ingredients:

2 tbsp thandai paste

45 ml Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur

Crushed Ice

For garnish:

Chopped pistachios and saffron strands

Method:

1. Add milk to a pan and bring it to a boil upon adding thandai paste.

2. Stir well and refrigerate overnight before straining the mixture into a glass.

3. In a shaker combine Baileys with thandai and pour into a glass filled with crushed ice.

4. Garnish with saffron strands and chopped pistachios. Your Baileys thandai is ready to be savoured.

Motichoor Baileys Milkshake

You can prepare a stunning dessert cocktail by combining motichoor with Baileys. Here’s how:

Ingredients:

For motichoor ladoo

1 cup simple syrup infused with saffron

1 cup of boondi made from besan flour

½ tbsp melon seeds

1 tbsp cardamom powder

For Baileys boondi cocktail:

45 ml Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur

1 motichoor ladoo

3-4 ice cubes

Whipped cream (optional)

For garnish:

Crushed pistachios

Method:

1. To make the motichoor ladoo, add fried boondi to sugar syrup before pulsing the mix in a blender. Add a splash of hot water while pulsing.

2. Next add melon seeds and cardamom powder and blend into a smooth mixture that can be turned into a ladoo.

3. Grease the palms of your hands with ghee before rolling the motichoor ladoo.

For the milkshake

1. Add motichoor ladoo, Baileys and ice cubes to a blender. The ice will give the drink a thick consistency.

2. Blend the mixture and pour it into a glass. Top it up with whipped cream.

3. Garnish with crushed pistachios. Your sweet motichoor Baileys cocktail is ready to be devoured.

Baileys Malai Kulfi

Malai kulfi is an indulgent dessert made out of rabdi, seasoned with cardamom. Add some Baileys to this recipe to give it a spirited quality. Here’s a quick recipe:

Ingredients

2 cups rabdi infused with cardamom and saffron

45 ml Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur

4-5 ice cubes

For garnish:

Ground cinnamon and pistachios

Method:

1. You can either use store bought malai kulfi or prepare it at home by freezing rabdi infused with cardamom and saffron.

2. Soften the malai kulfi until it is at room temperature and then add it to a blender.

3. Add ice cubes and Baileys to the blender and mix until the drink acquires a thick, creamy consistency.

4. Garnish with cinnamon and pistachios after pouring into a serving glass. Your malai kulfi Baileys dessert is ready to be relished.

Baileys And Chocolate Sandesh

Sandesh are a favoured Bengali dessert that is thoroughly decadent and exquisite. Give a spirited touch to this classic sweet treat with a spot of Baileys using the recipe below:

Ingredients:

200 gm chenna (cottage cheese or paneer)

2 tbsp cocoa powder

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

¼ teaspoon cardamom powder

30 ml Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur

Chopped pistachios and almonds for garnish

Method:

1. In a bowl, mix chenna, sugar, cocoa and cardamom and knead until it forms a dough-like consistency.

2. Add Baileys to the bowl and knead again until the mixture becomes malleable enough to be folded into flat discs or the sandesh.

3. Garnish with chopped pistachios and almonds and refrigerate for two hours. Your Baileys chocolate sandesh will then be ready for serving.

Baileys Mishti Doi

This Baileys Mishti Doi is made in a creme brulee style that truly takes this festive treat up by several notches. Don't just take our word for it! Try out the recipe:

Ingredients:

1/4 cup sugar

1 tbsp water

2 cups milk

3/4 cup dahi

45 ml Baileys

Garnish:

Sugar, torched on top

Method:

1. Hang the curd for 30 minutes with a weight on top. 

2. Boil the milk for 30 minutes, while stirring regularly. 

3. Caramelise the sugar with the help of water. Once it’s golden brown, add ½ a cup of hot milk to it and stir.

4. Add the hot mix back into the milk and stir well. Cool the mixture down. 

5. Whisk the hung curd, add in the warm milk mixture a little bit at a time, and combine.

6. Top it up with Baileys and mix well!
