A margarita with a salted rim and lime wedge sits on a table next to a plate of nachos, with salt and pepper shakers and silverware in the background.

The classic daiquiri has been bitten by the travel bug, and it’s decided to take those who like this spirit on the journey. Here are daiquiris that taste like they’ve racked up more air miles than a seasoned globetrotter, from the streets of India to the tea bars in Morocco.

The British Earl Grey Daiquiri

First stop, the UK. But go beyond the double-decker buses and rainy afternoons; we’re here for the tea. Brew a potent cup of Earl Grey, then chill it in the refrigerator. Mix 45 ml rum, 15 ml of the cooled tea, 20 ml lime juice, and a spoonful of honey. Shake, strain into a glass, and serve. This is a daiquiri that can be prepared at a house or garden party.

The Japanese Yuzu Daiquiri

Jetting over to Japan, one would find a fruit that’s citrusy and particularly found in this region: yuzu. This daiquiri aims to capture the essence of Japanese culinary cultures. Bring together 60 ml rum, 20 ml yuzu juice and 10 ml simple syrup to balance the tartness. Shake it all up in mixology fashion, and serve in a glass that's sleek and minimal, resembling the Japanese vibe.

The Indian Mango Lassi Daiquiri

Next, touch down in India, a land where flavours and aromas intertwine. The mango lassi daiquiri can be prepared during an Indian summer. Blend 60 ml rum with 30 ml mango puree, 20 ml lime juice, and a dollop of yoghurt for its creamy notes. Serve the drink with a sprinkle of cardamom powder on top.

The Brazilian Lime And Cachaca Daiquiri

Next up, Brazil — with its own variation of the daiquiri. Swap out the lime juice in the recipe with a splash of cachaca to give it a Brazilian rhythm. Mix 60 ml rum, 20 ml of cachaca and 15 ml lime juice. Add a dash of simple syrup for a sweeter note, then shake the drink well before serving with a lemon wedge garnish.

The Moroccoan Mint Tea Daiquiri

The final destination on this world tour is Morocco and the moroccan mint tea daiquiri. Brew some Moroccan mint tea and wait for it to cool. Mix 60 ml rum, 20 ml mint tea, 15 ml lime juice and a bit of rose water for the Moroccan touch. Shake and strain this liquid into a tinted glass.
