Edna Valley Vineyard Merlot, San Luis Obispo County 2006

Edna Valley Vineyard Merlot, San Luis Obispo County

Edna Valley wines are aged mainly in French oak barrels selected for their complementary qualities. In short, they use an artisan's approach to New World winemaking.

They focus on estate-grown Chardonnay and we have a strong commitment to producing Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon using new varietal clones.

Tasting Notes

Our 2006 Merlot opens with inviting cherry, blackberry and vanilla aromas. Black currant and caramel develop across the palate with subtle hints of tarragon and coffee. Juicy fruit supports the body and adds length to the mid palate, with smooth tannins that hold together for a nice finish.

Food Pairings

A very approachable and food-friendly wine, the Merlot pairs nicely with a variety of foods including soft, ripe cheeses, wild mushroom pasta, or sausage pizza.
